Catalogue description
"I killed seven with one blow!" The King assigns Mickey Mouse the monumental task of defeating a giant after townspeople overhear his tale of heroism... in defeating seven houseflies. The mistake is ultimately rewarded, as Mickey saves the day with his quick and clever wit. Seen at the 7:57 mark of the Wolfgang Reitherman-directed theatrical short Brave Little Tailor, presented is a fantastic and rare original production cel featuring Mickey Mouse in one of his greatest roles. The film was even listed as the 26th greatest cartoon of all time by members of the animation field in a list compiled for Jerry Beck's book The 50 Greatest Cartoons. Mickey is hand-inked and hand-painted in full figure on the cel, wearing his iconic tailor attire and wielding his trusty sewing needle. The cel is trimmed-to-image and affixed to a blank cel. The cel is displayed on a custom Courvoisier background. Mickey's image measures about 5" x 5.25" in this excellent image. The piece is matted and framed with glass, with a matboard aperture of 6.75" x 7" and an overall frame size of 13.25" x 13.25". A Courvoisier Certificate of Authenticity is on the back of the frame. The piece is in Good condition overall, with some handling and wear, including some paint cracking and separation, as well as some cel warping. The frame is sold as-is.
