Catalogue description
From Disney's influential first animated feature film Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, we have in this lot an outstanding hand-painted and hand-inked production cel of Happy, one of the hardest dwarfs to find by himself, on a stupendous Master background. This full-figure image of the beloved character cautiously walking comes from the 29:50 mark of the movie, as the dwarfs inspect their cottage, believing there has been a break-in, seconds before Sneezy's powerful sneeze sends him flying. Happy measures 3.5" x 4.5", he is trimmed to image and mounted to the Master background of the dwarf's room, created in gouache on background board, and seen at about the 34:40 timestamp. Backgrounds in this film were done by Samuel Armstrong, Claude Coats, Merle Cox, Phil Dike, Roy Lockrem, Mique Nelson, and Maurice Noble. The lot is offered in a 14.25" x 15.25" mat, sold as-is. The background is trimmed. Light paint separation can be seen on the cel. In Good to Very Good condition with light handling and edge wear from production and a small stain.
