Catalogue description
"Someday we'll meet again and away to his castle we'll go." Snow White cheerfully makes the last of the gooseberry pies for the dwarfs, singing "Someday My Prince Will Come" while her animal friends help her with the finishing touches. Beautiful hand-inked and hand-painted Courvoisier setups like these started to be created in the late 1930s in a deal between Walt Disney and Guthrie Courvoisier after the widespread success of Snow White, allowing high-end collectors to purchase cels used in Disney films. This lot captures Snow White with her pie crust at about 1:09:05 in Disney's first animated feature film as she prepares to lift it. The adorable bird, finished pie, and raccoons have all been meticulously trimmed to figure and attached to the cel and were created for about 1:09:19, 1:11:22, and 13:20 timestamps respectively. The characters measure about 5.5" x 6.5" combined and are displayed in a 7.5" x 8.75" mat window and still in the original 14" x 16.5" Courvoisier mat. The mat features "Snow White" hand-written at the edge of the mat window, a WDE copyright in the lower right corner of the mat, and the Courvoisier COA sticker on the back of the mat. The mat exhibits some toning, pinholes, and tears and is sold as-is. Very Good condition for the cel with only light age-related toning and faint handling and paint wear.
